Contemporary Lenten array

Below are some images of a more contemporary (well sort of 70s) set of Lenten hangings from Stoke D'Abernon in Surrey.  The photos come from the Flickr archive of SarumSleuth

Period style aside (to my eye it has a bit of a "Rocky & Bullwinkle" feel - older readers will remember the 60's floral backgrounds), the design is too complex and busy.

The most successful lenten arrays combine simplicity of design and strong, boldly-drawn execution.

I thing Roger Mortimer entirely right. I have been trying to come up with a "now" design for our Lenten Array with the result that our frontal is just white. Suggestions, anyone?

Well-illustrated six-page piece here on lenten veils in the Austrian province of Carinthia. The interesting examples start on the second page.
